With fair prices and welcoming staff, Cantoro’s Italian restaurant menu reads like a delectable map of Italy. Taking you to seaside in Sicily with the antipasti selection including Calamari alla Griglia served with grilled calamari and lemon, zucchini and Limoncello vinaigrette; and headed north up the mainland coast for Finocchio E Arancia salad with fennel, orange slices, micro arugula and balsamic glaze; continuing to its hands-down most popular dish the Tagliatelle alla Bolognese with house made Tagliatelle pasta and traditional meat sauce of ground veal, beef, sausage and pancetta. The culinary trip to Italy, as seen by owners John and Michael Fallone with Executive Chef Anthony Calabrese, continues with a vast panini selection with variety of hard-crusted breads made in the bakery; house-made soups; nearly 20 different pizza selections and entrees such as Gorgonzola Ribeye or Grilled Mediterranean Sea Bass. And don’t forget the rotating selection of house-made gelato.

Cantoro Trattoria has earned Wine Spectator’s 2017 Award of Excellence. Certified Sommelier Alex Bazzy enthusiastically guides diners for the perfect pairings. The fully stocked bar offers a generous selection of wines, liquors and beers, along with Italian coffees, espressos and cappuccinos.

Cantoro seats 80 in the stylish and modern dining room with high ceilings and lots of natural light. It opens onto a patio for al fresco dining in the summer months, almost doubling its capacity.

The talent that makes this true Italian operation well-run is lead by Chef Anthony Calabrese and general manager Alex Bazzy, both who worked for Luciano Del Signore in the early days of Bacco, one of the top restaurants in metro Detroit.

Wine Spectator Award of Excellence 2017


Cantoro Italian Market & Trattoria announced that Wine Spectator magazine has bestowed its Trattoria with a 2017 Award of Excellence. The lifestyle publication, which focuses on wine and wine culture, praised restaurants from all 50 states and 75 countries that have outstanding wine programs.

The Award of Excellence recognizes restaurants whose wine lists feature a well-chosen assortment of quality producers, along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style, satisfying discerning wine lovers. Cantoro was among the 457 eateries worldwide who received the award for the first time.
